(and Prosperity)
We listed money and financial freedom as one of the upsides to this business. It is also one of the downsides. Money can be addictive, and if you get into this industry, you must be very careful to make sure you’re in control. A lot of young women begin dancing, and while they are making tons of money they become accustomed to a certain lifestyle. Very few plan ahead, and as their earning potential declines with age, they have no way out. We’ll show you how to avoid this trap in later chapters, but keep this in mind from day one: what are my long term goals, and what is my exit strategy?
Discipline prevents you from going down paths that lead to ruin. Debt, substance abuse, prostitution, broken homes usually result from lack of discipline and structure. You need to make some rules for how you conduct your business before you get into this game,
If you find yourself tempted, or worse, deviating from your rules, it is time to either get help immediately, or get out of the industry all together.
Rules for survival
- Three drinks maximum per shift. No excuses. No cheating.
- No drugs.
- Never date anyone you meet at work, including staff. The one in a million chance it works out isn’t worth the drama that results from all the failures.
- Never do anything illegal, no matter how much money is involved.
- Do not spend your savings. That money is for your future. If times are tough, work harder and smarter.
- Treat others as you wish to be treated. Turn the other cheek, be the bigger person, kill them with kindness.
- Never tolerate an abusive partner. Verbal abuse leads to physical abuse. Be strong and go your own way at the first sign of abusive behavior. No matter how much you love them, you will not change them.
